Goal Light Red
The "Goal Light Red" print of the 3D Blackhawk Feathers piece. All of the vertical lines go towards one vanishing point, but when photographed at an angle, the lines become parallel and make the piece appear to pop off of the page.
To achieve the shot, I lined up my camera so that I could minimize and converging vertical lines. I pointed a small spotlight towards the lower right hand corner of the board to mimic the direction my "virtual" light was coming from when in relation to the shadows. In post-processing I create the shadows along the "ground" for an even greater sense of realism.

NOTE: Watermark will not be present on the final piece

Every once in a while, I get a spark to create something with my favorite medium, colored pencils. Since it was playoff time here in Chicago, I decided to do a 3d colored sketch of my favorite part of the Chicago Blackhawk logo - the feathers.
I knew I wanted to created this to be photographed, so I used forced perspective to make it appear as though the logo was popping off the page.
Over the course of 20+ hours, I practiced color mixes, textures, and perspectives all leading up to the final coloring process. A 10 hour coloring marathon later, the final piece was finished. I hope you enjoy. Oh, and, GO HAWKS - in 2013
